Description

This barrel is built for the AR-10 shooter who wants a capable mid-length precision package in .308 Winchester — long enough to extract meaningful velocity from the cartridge, short enough to stay manageable in field or positional shooting. The 18-inch length hits a practical sweet spot: it recovers most of the velocity loss you take when cutting below a 20-inch tube, while staying significantly easier to handle than a full-length service-rifle profile.

The rifle-length gas system is the key mechanical decision here. Compared to a mid-length or carbine setup on a barrel this size, rifle-length dwell timing bleeds off more pressure before the bolt unlocks, which means the carrier arrives home with less violence. The result is a measurably softer impulse and reduced wear on the bolt and extension over sustained shooting — an advantage that matters more in .308 than in smaller cartridges because the gas impulse is already more aggressive.

The 1:10 twist rate is optimized for the most common .308 hunting and match weights — roughly 150 to 175 grain — giving you a wide range of practical ammunition options without the over-stabilization that a faster twist can introduce with lighter bullets.
