Description

The BCM KeyMod 3-inch Picatinny Rail Section is a straightforward solution for shooters who want to add a short run of Mil-Standard 1913 Picatinny rail to a KeyMod handguard without committing to a full-length top rail. Three inches of rail gives you enough room to mount a weapon light, pressure pad, or short bipod at a specific position on the handguard while keeping the rest of the KeyMod surface open and snag-free.

The rail body is machined from aircraft-grade aluminum and hard anodized, which keeps weight down and provides a corrosion-resistant surface that holds up to field use. The mounting hardware is stainless steel, so the fasteners themselves resist corrosion independently of the rail body — useful if the handguard sees rain or humidity over time. The assembly is self-contained, meaning the anchoring nuts stay captured within the rail section rather than loose in a parts bag, which matters when you are working in the field or making adjustments at a range without a tray in front of you.

Installation requires a T15 Torx wrench. An arrow on the underside of the rail marks the forward end, keeping orientation consistent. BCM specifies a torque range of 18 to 20 inch-pounds for the mounting screws and recommends blue thread-locking compound for a more secure hold. The section fits any KeyMod-spec mounting surface, so it is not limited to BCM handguards. Shooters running KeyMod-compatible handguards from other manufacturers can use this section the same way.

This is the 3-inch variant with five Picatinny slots. BCM also offers 4-inch and 5.5-inch versions in the same aluminum construction for applications that need a longer accessory footprint.
