Description
The BCM Low Profile Gas Block is designed for AR-15 builds that use a free-floating handguard, where the standard front sight base has been eliminated and the handguard runs uninterrupted over the barrel. Without a sight tower in the way, a low-profile block sits entirely beneath the handguard, keeping the profile clean and allowing the shooter to mount optics or accessories without height interference from the gas system.
BCM machines this block from steel and applies a phosphate finish, which bonds to metal rather than sitting on top of it, giving it corrosion resistance and a surface that holds lubrication well under heat. The bore is honed after finishing to meet USGI Technical Data Package dimensions — that step matters because the finish itself adds material inside the bore, and skipping the post-finish hone can make seating the block on the barrel difficult or leave it canted. Holding tight internal tolerances here ensures the block indexes correctly on the barrel and that the gas port alignment stays true.
Retention is handled by steel 10-32 knurled cup-point set screws. The knurled cup point digs into the barrel surface rather than bearing against it flat, which helps resist rotation under the cycling forces of repeated fire. This variant fits .625-inch diameter barrels — the dimension found on many lightweight and pencil-profile AR-15 barrels — so confirm your barrel’s journal diameter before ordering. BCM also produces a .750-inch version for standard government-profile and heavier barrels.
