Description
The Bergara Premier barreled action in 6.5 PRC is built for hunters and long-range shooters who want a precision-ready foundation without starting from a complete rifle. It ships as a fitted, headspaced unit—barrel already installed on the action—so a builder can drop it into a Remington 700-compatible stock or chassis and be ready to scope and shoot with far less gunsmithing than a barrel-swap on a factory rifle requires.
The No. 4 contour barrel is the same profile Bergara uses on the Canyon rifle. It sits between a sporter and a heavy varmint profile, which means it sheds enough weight to carry comfortably in the field while retaining enough mass to resist heat-induced point-of-impact shift during back-to-back strings. The barrel is 416 stainless steel and ships threaded 5/8-24 with a thread protector installed.
A 1-in-8-inch twist rate is well matched to the 6.5 PRC’s typical bullet weight range. Heavier long-range projectiles in the 140–147 grain class—where most of 6.5 PRC’s ballistic advantage over shorter 6.5mm cartridges actually lives—stabilize reliably at that rate, and the twist does not over-spin lighter hunting bullets to any meaningful degree. Shooters running 130-grain loads will find no issue here.
The action itself accepts Remington 700-pattern scope bases on an 8-40 thread pattern and is compatible with Remington 700-style triggers, which gives builders access to a wide aftermarket for both optics mounting and trigger work. The bolt features a spiral-fluted body, dual ejector, and a sliding plate extractor. It arrives in Raw Stainless finish, uncoated, so builders who intend to apply their own surface treatment or bed it directly into a chassis have a clean starting point.
