Description
The Bergara Premier Series Barreled Action in 7mm PRC is built for the shooter who wants a precision-grade foundation for a custom or semi-custom bolt rifle without starting from scratch on the barrel fit and chambering. It suits long-range hunters and precision rifle builders who need a drop-in-ready assembly rather than a bare action waiting on a gunsmith’s schedule.
The 7mm PRC is a modern magnum-class cartridge designed around long, high-BC projectiles, and the 1-in-8 inch twist rate is matched to stabilize those heavier bullets—think 175-grain and above—that make the cartridge competitive at extended distances. Choosing a slower twist for lighter bullets would leave that performance on the table; this rate keeps options open toward the heavier end of the 7mm spectrum where the cartridge earns its reputation.
The No. 5.5 contour barrel is a medium-heavy profile. It adds enough mass to absorb heat across a string of fire without carrying the weight penalty of a fully benchrest-heavy tube, which makes the assembled rifle manageable in a field stock for hunting applications while still giving a handloader or precision shooter a reasonable round count before accuracy degrades from heat. The barrel is machined from 416 stainless steel, left in a raw stainless finish, which resists corrosion in wet conditions without requiring a cerakote or blued finish to hold up.
The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24 with a thread protector included, so the builder can mount a muzzle device at any point without additional gunsmithing. Scope mounting follows the Remington 700 footprint with 8-40 threads, which means the widest available selection of rings and bases drops straight on.
