Description
The Bergara Premier Competition is built from the ground up for precision rifle sport — PRS-style competition specifically — and it arrives ready to shoot without requiring the chassis upgrades, trigger swaps, or barrel work that production rifles typically demand before they’re genuinely competitive. If you’re looking to step onto a match line with a factory rifle and not apologize for your equipment, this is the platform Bergara designed for that purpose.
The chassis is an MPA BA, a design that prioritizes adjustable fit and positional stability for the kind of andard-form shooting PRS courses demand. It incorporates an Arca Swiss rail along the bottom, which means you can mount directly to an Arca-compatible tripod head or rest and slide the rifle fore and aft to balance it without tools — a meaningful advantage when you’re moving between positional stages. The rail also accepts Picatinny bipods through a standard adapter.
The trigger is a TriggerTech Special, which uses TriggerTech’s Frictionless Release Technology to eliminate the sear engagement that produces creep and unpredictable break weights. The practical result is a pull that resets cleanly and behaves consistently across temperature and round count — relevant when a stage might put you through a string after an endurance run.
The barrel is a heavy-profile stainless steel No. 7 taper. That added mass slows heat absorption during rapid strings and reduces the barrel walk that lighter profiles exhibit as they warm up, which matters when you’re trying to hold zero across an entire match. The 1-in-8-inch twist rate is well-suited to the range of long, high-BC projectiles that have become standard in 6.5 Creedmoor competition loads. The rifle ships with one 10-round AICS-pattern detachable magazine, which interfaces with the wide aftermarket of AICS-compatible mags if you need additional capacity on the clock.
