Description
The B-14 Squared Crest is built around the demands of backcountry hunting, where every ounce matters and conditions change faster than you can plan for. It is the kind of rifle a serious mountain hunter reaches for when a heavy wood or synthetic stock becomes a liability on a long approach — and where precision still has to be there when the shot presents itself.
The stock is constructed from 100% carbon fiber using a resin-transfer molding process that integrates a carbon spine for longitudinal rigidity. That internal structure is not cosmetic — it keeps the stock from flexing under load, which matters for consistency when you are shooting from improvised field positions. Length-of-pull spacers allow the fit to be dialed in without swapping stocks.
Bergara builds the barrel from 4140 chrome-moly steel and runs it through their drilling, honing, and button-rifling process, which is the same process they apply across their barrel line and the foundation of their sub-MOA guarantee using factory match-grade ammunition. The 1-in-10-inch twist rate is well-suited to the full range of standard .308 Winchester projectiles — from 150-grain hunting loads up through 175-grain match bullets — without pushing into the territory where heavier, longer VLD bullets begin to see real benefit from a faster rate. The muzzle is threaded 5/8-24 and ships with an Omni Muzzle Brake fitted at the factory.
The B-14 action uses a two-lug bolt with a sliding extractor and a tapered breech fit, designed to keep cycling smooth even with dirt or grit in the action — a relevant consideration when you are hunting above the treeline. The action and barrel both wear Sniper Grey Cerakote, which offers corrosion resistance against rain, snow, and condensation without adding meaningful weight. No optic is included, so the mounting setup is entirely at the shooter’s discretion.
