Description
The Bergara B-14 Wilderness HMR Carbon is built for hunters and precision shooters who need a rifle that can hold up in serious field conditions without carrying the weight of a traditional steel-barreled chassis gun. It sits in a sweet spot between a dedicated long-range target rifle and a mountain hunting rifle — accurate enough for the former, light enough not to punish you on the latter.
The barrel is wrapped in Bergara’s CURE Carbon Fiber construction over their own rifled steel liner. That combination matters because the carbon shell dissipates heat and reduces barrel weight without sacrificing the bore quality Bergara controls in-house. The 1-in-8 inch twist rate is well-matched to the heavier, high-BC projectiles that make 7mm PRC effective at extended range — if you’re running lighter pills, you’ll still stabilize them, but this rifle is optimized for the loads that take full advantage of the cartridge’s velocity and sectional density.
The barreled action wears a Sniper Grey Cerakote finish, which provides meaningful corrosion resistance for rifles that spend time in rain, humidity, and field conditions where blued steel would require more maintenance. The stock is Bergara’s HMR design with a molded-in mini-chassis — this gives the action a repeatable bedding surface without requiring separate chassis hardware, and it adds an adjustable cheek piece and length-of-pull spacers so the rifle can be fitted to the shooter rather than the other way around. The threaded muzzle accepts the included Omni muzzle brake on a 5/8×24 pattern, which is also the standard thread for most rifle suppressors if you choose to run one later. The detachable AICS-pattern magazine means compatible aftermarket options are widely available.
