Description
The Premier HMR Pro is Bergara’s answer to a rifle that can move between the field and a precision shooting match without requiring a separate build for each role. It is aimed at shooters who want a platform built around repeatable performance rather than one tuned for a single purpose.
The action runs on a two-lug bolt with a separate floating bolt head, which keeps the lugs in consistent contact with the abutments in the receiver regardless of small dimensional variations. A cone-shaped bolt nose guides cartridges from the AICS-pattern magazine into the chamber smoothly under field conditions, and the spring-loaded sliding plate extractor sits at the front of the lower locking lug where it can get purchase on the case rim early in the extraction stroke. The bolt body, bolt head, gas shield, and shroud are stainless steel; the bolt head, gas shield, and shroud are additionally Nitrided, which hardens the surface and reduces the need for frequent lubrication in dirty environments.
The two-position safety is integrated with the TriggerTech Frictionless Release Technology trigger. That arrangement allows the bolt to cycle without locking when the safety is engaged, so the rifle can be cleared without taking it off safe — a meaningful distinction in a hunting context. The 416 stainless steel barrel carries a Tactical Grey Cerakote finish and is fully free-floated by a stock built around an integrated mini-chassis. That chassis gives the action a consistent bedding surface every time the rifle is reassembled, which matters when you are tracking groups across multiple range sessions. The stock also includes an adjustable cheek piece, length-of-pull spacers, and QD flush cup sling mounts for carry adaptability. The 1-in-8-inch twist rate stabilizes the longer, heavier projectiles that 6.5 Creedmoor handloaders and match shooters tend to favor. The muzzle is threaded 5/8-24 with a thread protector installed.
