The Bergara B-14R Steel was built specifically for long-range rimfire competition and precision training — shooters pursuing NRL22 or PRS rimfire matches, or centerfire competitors who want meaningful trigger time at reduced cost. The foundation is a full-size Remington 700 footprint, which means aftermarket stocks, triggers, and scope bases designed for that platform drop in without modification, so the rifle grows with a shooter’s preferences rather than locking them into proprietary accessories.

The action itself is a dedicated rimfire design rather than a converted centerfire receiver, with a floating bolt head and non-rotating gas shield. The floating bolt head allows the face to self-align with the chamber on each closing cycle, which matters for consistent headspace across a cartridge category known for dimensional variation between manufacturers. The 1:16″ twist rate is matched to the range of bullet weights commonly loaded in .22 WMR — faster than typical .22 LR barrels, which stabilizes the heavier and longer projectiles that chambering uses without over-spinning lighter options.

The barrel is 4140 CrMo steel in a No. 6 taper profile and is threaded at the muzzle, making it straightforward to run a suppressor without permanent modification. The stock is Bergara’s HMR design — a full-length integrated mini-chassis with a molded chassis-style foundation — which provides a stable bedding surface and the same grip geometry shooters familiar with Bergara’s centerfire precision rifles will recognize immediately. The detachable magazine is built to AICS short-action dimensions, so it indexes and seats the same way as the standard across the precision rifle community. Capacity is 10 rounds.
