Description
The Bergara B-14R Carbon is built around a single purpose: giving precision rifle shooters a full-size, full-weight training platform that handles identically to a centerfire bolt gun while running .22 LR ammunition. That matters because training with a scaled-down or lightweight rimfire teaches you different muscle memory than the rifle you actually compete or hunt with. The B-14R is dimensionally matched to a standard short-action chassis rifle, so the repetitions you log on it transfer directly.
The barrel is a No. 6 profile wrapped in carbon fiber, which keeps overall rifle weight honest for extended positional work without sacrificing the stiffness that affects harmonic consistency shot to shot. Bergara cuts the bore at a 1-in-16-inch twist, a rate chosen specifically for the velocity range .22 LR produces — faster twists can over-stabilize the relatively light rimfire projectiles at subsonic or standard-velocity speeds, while this rate keeps a wide range of match and hunting loads shooting predictably. The muzzle is threaded at 1/2-28 tpi, the standard pitch for .22-caliber rimfire, so it accepts most suppressors and muzzle devices without an adapter.
The magazine is built to the same external dimensions as a standard short-action AICS-pattern box, meaning it drops into any chassis or stock designed for that format. The floating bolt head design allows the bolt face to self-index to the chamber at the moment of lockup rather than relying on the body of the bolt for alignment — a detail that matters for consistency across thousands of dry and live repetitions. Drilled and tapped for optics, the receiver accommodates the same rings and mounts you would use on a centerfire build, which reinforces the one-to-one training relationship this rifle is designed to provide.
