Description
The B-14 Ridge is Bergara’s answer to a straightforward question: how much hunting rifle can a serious shooter get without overspending. It is aimed at big-game hunters who want a working tool rather than a safe queen — something that can be packed through rough country, dragged across a truck bed, and trusted to perform when the moment comes.
The barrel is cut from 4140 chrome-moly steel and finished in Graphite Black Cerakote, which resists corrosion and weathering better than a standard blued finish while adding negligible weight. The 1-in-10-inch twist rate is well-suited to the mid-weight projectiles that dominate .30-06 hunting loads — bullets in the 150- to 180-grain range stabilize reliably at that rate, giving hunters a wide selection of factory ammunition that will perform as designed. The muzzle is cut 1/2-28 tpi, so adding a suppressor or a muzzle brake is a straightforward swap without gunsmithing.
The B-14 action uses a two-lug bolt with a coned bolt nose and a sliding plate extractor. The coned geometry guides cartridges into the chamber smoothly, which matters when you are cycling a follow-up shot under pressure, and the sliding plate extractor provides consistent case pull without the brittle failure modes of a small, pinned extractor. The internal box magazine feeds from a hinged floor plate, so you can unload without cycling rounds through the action — a practical feature for hunters moving between stands or crossing fences. The two-position safety gives a clear mechanical disconnect between ready and safe states. The receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounting, consistent with a rifle designed to be run with optics rather than irons.
