The Bergara Premier Short Action PRC is built for handloaders and custom rifle builders who want a precision-grade foundation they can finish to their own specifications rather than compromise on a factory configuration. It is a receiver-only action, sold in the white, intended to be barreled and stocked to suit a particular cartridge, chassis, or field application.

Bergara machines the action from 416 stainless steel, a grade chosen for its corrosion resistance and dimensional stability under temperature swings — properties that matter when a barreled action is expected to hold headspace over years of use. The bolt face is cut to the magnum PRC diameter at .540 inches, which accommodates the wider case heads of cartridges like 6.5 PRC, 7 PRC, and 300 PRC in a short-action envelope. That combination lets builders pursue efficient, high-BC cartridges without stepping up to a long action and the added receiver weight that comes with it.

The spiral-fluted bolt body reduces rotating mass slightly and gives fouling somewhere to go during cycling. A dual ejector system provides more consistent case ejection than a single-plunger setup, which matters during rapid follow-up shots or when working in extreme cold where springs can lose tension. The sliding plate extractor offers a broader contact surface on the case rim compared to a narrow claw, reducing the risk of extraction failures under pressure.

The action is dimensioned to accept Remington 700-pattern stocks and chassis, and the scope base holes are drilled 8-40 for standard Remington 700-compatible rings — meaning the existing aftermarket for both chassis and optic mounting hardware applies directly. Rem 700-compatible triggers also drop in, which keeps the upgrade path straightforward.
