Description
The Bootleg .308 AR Carrier Completion Kit is built for shooters who are assembling or servicing a Bootleg AR-10 carrier and want every internal component to match the quality of the carrier itself. It covers the bolt, cam pin, firing pin, and firing pin retaining pin — the four parts that bear the most stress in the firing cycle — so you can complete a build or refresh a worn assembly without sourcing components piecemeal.
The bolt is machined from 9310 steel and finished in phosphate. That alloy is chosen specifically for its toughness under cyclic stress, and the phosphate coating gives the surface a degree of corrosion resistance while retaining oil well — useful in humid or high-volume shooting environments where a bare steel surface would require more frequent attention. The cam pin is forged from 4340 steel, a chromoly alloy that handles the lateral and rotational loads it sees during the locking and unlocking cycle without deforming over time. The firing pin is 4140 steel, selected for the combination of hardness and ductility that consistent primer ignition demands. The retaining pin, often an afterthought, is formed from 1038 steel wire — appropriate for a part whose job is to hold position under repeated spring pressure rather than absorb impact.
Bootleg designed this kit specifically around their gas-adjustable AR-10 carrier, so the components are dimensioned for seamless fit with that system. Standard mil-spec dimensions mean the parts will also function in other .308 AR platforms that use the same carrier geometry, making this a practical stocking spare for anyone running the Bootleg system in the field.
