Suppressors run hot, and a bare can during a sustained string of fire is a burn hazard and a mirage generator. The Burn Proof Gear Heavy Suppressor Cover is built for shooters who run their suppressors hard — in training environments, competitions, or any situation where round count climbs quickly and cool-down time is not an option.

The cover uses a two-layer construction chosen specifically for the different thermal demands at each position. The outer shell is DuPont Kevlar, which handles temperatures up to 1,000°F and serves as the structural layer the shooter actually contacts. Underneath it, a fiberglass mesh liner handles the more extreme heat at the suppressor surface itself, rated to 2,000°F — a meaningful difference from the outer layer because the can’s metal body can far exceed what a person can safely touch. Together the two materials handle the gap between skin-safe and metal-safe temperatures without relying on a single material to do both jobs.

The cover is cut 0.5 inches longer than the suppressor body it is sized for. That extra length allows the front and rear to cinch down around the can’s end caps rather than resting flush against them, which is what keeps it from walking forward under recoil or repeated thermal cycling. The fit is mechanical, not friction-dependent. All materials throughout are aerospace and military grade fire-retardant, and the cover is rated for full-auto use — not as a marketing threshold but because sustained full-auto fire represents the worst-case thermal load the cover needs to survive. Reducing mirage off a hot can is a secondary benefit that pays off at distance. Made in the USA.
