Description
The B&T SMG-M is a purpose-built 9mm suppressor designed for operators running tri-lug-equipped submachine guns who need to move between suppressed and unsuppressed configurations without tools or downtime. It mounts by pressing directly onto any in-spec 3-lug barrel — the spring-loaded retaining collar locks automatically on contact — and releases with a single tab depression. That one-handed attachment and removal is the core of B&T’s SQD, or Super Quick Disconnect, system.
What separates the SMG-M from a fixed-length can is its modular RBS-compatible section. A secondary stage threads onto the primary body to extend the suppressor to full length, prioritizing maximum sound suppression, or it can be left off to keep the package compact when maneuverability matters more. The choice doesn’t require any tools and can be made in the field. On top of that, two endcaps ship with the suppressor: a non-vented cap that seals the system for the greatest noise reduction, and a vented cap that activates B&T’s Reduced Backpressure System. With the RBS engaged, combustion gases are redirected away from the action, reducing the volume of gas returning to the shooter’s face and chamber — a meaningful comfort difference on an open-bolt or blowback platform running suppressed at high round counts. The result is four distinct configurations from a single unit, letting the shooter dial in the trade-off between length, backpressure, and suppression level. Compatible platforms include B&T’s own APC9, SPC9, and GHM9, as well as the HK MP5 family with in-spec tri-lug barrels. The SMG-M ships in grey.
