The Bushnell A3 is a compact 8×32 binocular built for hunters, hikers, and anyone who wants capable glass in a package light enough to carry all day without noticing it. The 32mm objective diameter is a deliberate compromise: smaller than a full-size 42mm optic, which means less light transmission at dusk, but also meaningfully less weight and bulk when you’re covering miles on foot. If low-light performance at last light is your priority, that trade-off matters; if you spend most of your time glassing in daylight, the 32mm format earns its keep.

BAK4 roof prisms sit at the core of the optical path. That prism glass is denser and more homogenous than BAK7, which reduces light scatter at the edges of the field of view and produces a cleaner, rounder exit pupil. Fully multicoated optics work alongside the prisms to push transmission as high as the design allows, keeping the image bright and color-neutral across the field. A close focus of just under ten feet makes the A3 genuinely useful for watching birds or examining terrain at very short distances, not just distant ridgelines.

The EXO Barrier coating bonds to the exterior lens surfaces at a molecular level, repelling water, oil, dust, and debris rather than simply letting them settle. That matters in wet or dusty field conditions where you’d otherwise be constantly wiping glass. IPX7 waterproofing means the body can handle immersion, and fog-proofed internals prevent the kind of moisture ingress that ruins an optic when temperatures swing. The wave-textured rubber armor over the body gives a secure grip in cold or wet hands. The Folkstone Gray finish ships with a matching rope strap and a microfiber carry bag, and the snap-lock strap connectors let you swap or remove the strap quickly without tools.
