CCI’s CB Long is built for situations where a standard .22 LR report would be unwelcome — backyard pest control, quiet range sessions, or training in noise-sensitive settings. The cartridge produces a sound level comparable to many spring-piston air rifles, which makes it practical anywhere a full-velocity rimfire would draw complaints or carry too far.

The 29-grain lead round nose bullet leaves the muzzle at 710 feet per second, which keeps it well below the speed of sound and eliminates the supersonic crack that follows most rimfire loads downrange. At that velocity the bullet retains enough energy for reliable terminal performance on small pests at close range while keeping recoil negligible. The lead round nose profile feeds reliably through most .22 bolt-actions, semi-autos, and lever guns, though semi-automatic actions may not cycle consistently at this reduced power level — manual operation or a dedicated bolt gun is the more dependable choice.

CCI uses brass cases and their own rimfire priming compound, which is formulated for consistent ignition across a wide range of temperatures. Clean-burning propellants reduce fouling in the action, which matters when you are running higher round counts between cleanings. The ammunition ships in a reusable plastic box with a dispenser lid, convenient for field carry. Available in 100-round boxes and 5,000-round cases for those who go through volume.
