The projectile is a Speer VNT, which pairs an exceptionally thin copper jacket with a precision-fitted polymer tip. That thin jacket is the key design decision: on impact, it initiates expansion at velocities where a heavier-jacketed bullet might simply punch through, turning what would otherwise be a pass-through into a rapid, violent energy transfer. The polymer tip serves two purposes — it keeps the bullet’s profile uniform for flight stability and pushes inward on contact to trigger that jacket collapse.

At 30 grains, this bullet weight keeps the sectional density low, which works in the hunter’s favor for varmint work where you want disruption rather than penetration. The muzzle velocity of 2,200 fps pushes the trajectory flat enough to reduce holdover guesswork at typical field distances, and the rimfire priming is handled by CCI’s own compound, which the company has refined over decades of small-caliber production to deliver consistent ignition regardless of temperature swings.
