Description

CCI’s .22 Short blanks are built for situations where noise is the point and a projectile would be a liability. Dog trainers use them to condition retrievers and pointers to gunfire progressively, starting at distance and working closer as the dog grows comfortable. Starter pistol operators at track meets and field events rely on them for consistent reports without the hazard of live ammunition downrange of competitors. Close-quarters training drills where a projectile cannot safely travel are another natural application.

The case mouth is closed with a paper crimp rather than a bullet, which produces an audible report when the propellant ignites while leaving nothing to exit the muzzle. CCI uses a smokeless powder charge, which keeps residue accumulation lower than black-powder alternatives and reduces the cleaning burden on the training firearm. The rimfire priming compound is the same reliable formulation CCI applies across its rimfire line, so ignition failures are not a practical concern during repetitive training sessions.

These blanks function in any firearm chambered for .22 Short, .22 Long, or .22 Long Rifle, which covers the majority of bolt-action and semi-automatic trainers already in common use. Semi-automatic actions will typically not cycle on blank ammunition alone without a blank-firing adapter, since there is no projectile to build pressure against the barrel — a straightforward trade-off to understand before putting them to work. Boxes contain 100 rounds, and the product is also available in a case of 50 boxes for trainers who go through volume regularly.
