The 5-inch barrel is long enough to wring meaningful velocity out of 9mm without pushing the overall envelope into awkward territory for a pistol-format build. CMMG’s Radial Delayed Blowback operating system slows the bolt carrier’s rearward travel without relying on a gas port, which removes the need to tune gas pressure for suppressor use and tends to produce a softer, more linear recoil impulse than a straight blowback design of comparable weight. The 1:10-inch twist rate is well matched to the range of standard 9mm projectile weights, from 115-grain through 147-grain, without favoring the extremes of either end.

The barrel carries a Satin Black Cerakote finish, which offers meaningful corrosion resistance compared to bare steel while keeping the exterior low-glare. An ambidextrous safety makes the control layout workable for either hand without adapter parts. The barrel is threaded at 1/2×28, the standard pattern for 9mm, so the host is ready for a compatible muzzle device without modifications.
