Description

Modern AR handguards have trended toward slim, free-float profiles that shed weight and improve barrel clearance, but that geometry comes with a cost: thin aluminum transfers heat from the barrel and gas system directly to your support hand during sustained fire. The Cole-TAC SD Handguard Wrap addresses that problem without adding bulk to the rifle itself. Rather than replacing the handguard, it wraps around the outside of your existing one, putting an insulating layer between the metal and your palm.

Construction is two layers of laser-cut Squadron material, laminated together to form a barrier thick enough to interrupt heat transfer during extended range sessions, training drills, or field use where you may be putting rounds downrange quickly. The no-slot configuration means the material covers a continuous surface area rather than routing around accessory slots, which produces a cleaner fit on handguards that have few or no cutouts and leaves nothing for the wrap to catch or flex around. The MultiCam finish uses the Cole-TAC name for that pattern, integrating with standard MultiCam gear without any color mismatch.

This is a practical accessory for shooters who run lighter carbines and find the handguard becomes uncomfortable to hold during anything beyond slow, deliberate fire. It installs without tools and adds negligible weight, so it does not compromise the balance characteristics that made you choose a slimmer handguard in the first place. If you run gloves, it provides a secondary layer of grip texture. If you prefer bare hands, it handles the thermal management that gloves would otherwise cover.
