Description
The Gold Cup Lite is Colt’s competition-oriented 1911 platform, built for the shooter who wants a serious range pistol that doubles as a capable duty or carry option without the weight penalty of a full steel frame. The stainless construction throughout gives it corrosion resistance while maintaining the heft and rigidity that single-action 1911 shooters expect for consistent trigger pull feel and shot-to-shot repeatability.
The National Match barrel is fitted and hand-lapped to tighter engagement with the bushing and slide than a standard service barrel, which tightens the lockup and is the primary reason target-grade 1911s group more consistently than their service counterparts. That kind of barrel-to-slide fit is what the Gold Cup platform has been built around since its introduction, and it remains the mechanical core of this variant.
On the sighting system, the fiber optic front gives the eye a bright, fast acquisition point in variable light, while the Bomar-style adjustable rear lets you dial elevation and windage precisely — a combination that makes sense for a pistol intended to be shot at distance or scored in competition. Ambidextrous thumb safeties and a grip safety with a beavertail extension mean the manual-of-arms is accessible regardless of which hand is dominant, and the beavertail positions the web of the hand high enough to reduce muzzle flip in a single-action trigger system that breaks at a consistent, short reset. The scalloped G10 grips are durable, texture-stable under moisture, and won’t compress or degrade over time the way rubber panels can. One nine-round magazine is included.
