Description
The Gold Cup National Match is Colt’s dedicated competition 1911, built for shooters who run their pistols in organized events rather than treating the platform as a starting point for aftermarket work. It ships with refinements that most competition-oriented shooters would otherwise source separately: a National Match barrel fitted to tighter-than-standard specifications, precision adjustable target sights that allow repeatable elevation and windage corrections between stages or sessions, and an adjustable wide trigger that lets the shooter dial pull weight and take-up to suit their hand and technique.
The single-action trigger mechanism means every shot breaks from the same cocked position, giving a consistent and short reset that rewards disciplined grip and technique. The ambidextrous thumb and grip safety arrangement keeps the manual safety accessible without requiring the shooter to break their firing grip, which matters when running a course of fire under time pressure. The stainless National Match barrel sits inside a blued steel frame and slide — the barrel finish is chosen for the material’s dimensional stability and corrosion resistance at the chamber and bore, while the blued exterior gives the pistol a traditional look without adding significant weight. Rosewood double-diamond checkered grips complete the appearance and provide positive purchase without the abrasiveness of aggressive G10 panels. One nine-round magazine is included.
