The CR6920 is Colt’s commercial M4 carbine, aimed at shooters who want a mil-spec-pattern rifle without building one from parts. The carbine-length gas system drives a direct-impingement operating cycle tuned for a 16-inch barrel. Compared to a rifle-length system, the carbine gas port opens earlier in the pressure curve, which increases bolt carrier velocity and makes the action more tolerant of adverse conditions and varied ammunition, though felt impulse is slightly sharper. A standard H buffer in the stock helps moderate that cycle.
