The 8-inch barrel matters less as a number than as a geometry: the longer sight radius stretches the distance between front and rear, compressing angular error so that small alignment mistakes at the eye translate into smaller point-of-impact deviations at the target. The green fiber optic front collects ambient light and presents a crisp, high-visibility aiming point that is faster to pick up than a blued post under field conditions, while the adjustable rear sight allows precise windage and elevation tuning for a specific load rather than requiring a hold-over.

The 1-in-20-inch twist rate is slower than what most centerfire pistol cartridges use, and that matters when selecting ammunition: a slower twist stabilizes heavier, longer cast bullets effectively — the kind that handgun hunters typically choose for deep penetration — while remaining compatible with standard jacketed factory loads.
