Description

The DDM4 V7S is Daniel Defense’s short-barreled AR-pattern rifle built for close-range work where a standard carbine is too long to be practical—vehicle operations, building entry, or anywhere a compact platform matters more than ballistic range. It suits experienced shooters who want a well-sorted, factory-built package rather than assembling one themselves.

The 11.5-inch barrel runs a carbine-length gas system, which shortens the dwell time compared to a mid-length setup. On a barrel this short, that trade-off is deliberate: it keeps the gas port close enough to generate reliable cycling across a wide range of ammunition and suppressor configurations, though it does put more gas energy back into the action than a longer system would. The Cold Hammer Forging process used on the Chrome Moly Vanadium barrel compresses the steel as the bore is formed, producing a bore surface that resists wear at a rate faster-than-cut-rifling alternatives. Chrome lining adds another layer of corrosion and heat resistance, which matters on a short barrel that runs hotter under sustained fire. A 1:7 twist rate stabilizes heavier projectiles—62-grain through 77-grain bullets seat well here—giving the shooter flexibility to run M855 or heavier open-tip match loads without changing hardware.

The MFR 10.0 M-LOK handguard is free-floating, meaning it makes no contact with the barrel, so torque applied when gripping or mounting a bipod does not transfer into the barrel and shift point of impact. M-LOK slots run along seven positions, and the top of the receiver maintains a continuous Picatinny rail for optics mounting. The GRIP-N-RIP charging handle is independently ambidextrous—each side actuates independently rather than requiring both hands—which accommodates support-side manipulation without a dedicated ambidextrous lower. Receivers are machined from 7075-T6 aluminum with a Type III Hard Coat Anodized finish. The included 32-round magazine ships with the rifle.
