Description

The EOTech EXPS3-1 in Flat Dark Earth is a holographic weapon sight built for shooters who need fast target acquisition at close to medium range and cannot afford to fumble with their optic under pressure. Unlike a traditional red dot that projects a laser spot onto a lens, holographic technology encodes the reticle into the glass itself using a laser-illuminated hologram, which means the reticle appears at the target plane rather than at the optic. That distinction matters when shooting with both eyes open or at severe cant angles — the point of aim does not shift the way it can with a parallax-sensitive dot sight.

The single 1 MOA dot reticle keeps the aiming reference small enough to retain precision without obscuring the target the way a larger ring-and-dot pattern can at distance. Shooters who find the standard 68 MOA ring reticle too busy for their application often specifically seek out this variant. The sight runs on a single CR123A battery, and the side-mounted battery compartment is one of the EXPS series’ practical refinements — it keeps the overall footprint short enough to leave room for a magnifier directly behind the optic on a standard Picatinny rail. The 7mm raised quick-detach mount positions the sight for lower one-third co-witness with standard iron sights, so a backup aiming solution remains accessible through the lower portion of the field of view without being centered in the glass during normal use.

Night vision compatibility means the sight has dedicated low-output brightness settings tuned to work with image-intensified devices rather than washing them out. The housing is aluminum and the finish is EOTech’s Flat Dark Earth. A CR123A battery is included, along with a protective case and quick-start guide.
