Description
Federal’s Game Load is a straightforward upland hunting shell built around consistent, repeatable performance in the field. It’s well suited to hunters who spend long days walking pheasant cover, working quail flushes, or pushing rabbits through brush — situations where you need a shell that functions reliably across varying conditions without asking you to think about it.
The #6 shot is a practical choice for most upland work, offering enough pellet count to produce dense patterns on birds at moderate ranges while still carrying sufficient energy at distance. Lead shot in this payload is formulated for optimum hardness, which resists deformation during the acceleration phase and through the bore — rounder pellets fly more predictably and produce tighter, more consistent patterns downrange.
A brass-plated steel head provides structural integrity under firing pressure, and the one-piece wad is designed to maximize payload efficiency by keeping the shot column together through the barrel and releasing it cleanly at the muzzle. Federal specifies a Triple Plus® wad column, which is engineered to cushion the shot charge during the initial pressure spike and protect pellets from deformation — the same mechanism that contributes to cold-weather reliability, since propellants can burn less consistently in low temperatures and the wad design helps compensate for that variability.
Non-corrosive primers keep maintenance simple after a long day in wet or cold conditions. At 25 rounds per box, this is standard field packaging — enough for a half-day hunt without carrying excess weight.
