Description
The FightLite Industries MCR® Dual-Feed™ Upper is built for shooters who need a single platform to handle both standard AR15/M16 box magazines and M27 belt-linked ammunition without swapping receivers or making permanent modifications to their lower. That flexibility — switching between magazine and belt feed at operator discretion — is the defining purpose of the MCR® system, and it sets this upper apart from any conventional AR-pattern component.
Fit is straightforward: the upper drops onto any MIL-Spec AR15, M16, or M4 lower, with rearward compatibility extending to rifles produced as early as 1963. No gunsmithing, no permanent alteration to the host. The 16.25-inch barrel uses a quick-change system that FightLite rates at roughly three seconds, which matters when a barrel swap is a field task rather than a bench operation.
The operating system is short-stroke gas piston rather than direct impingement. Piston operation keeps combustion gases out of the receiver, which reduces carbon fouling at the bolt face and generally runs cooler and dirtier before requiring intervention — a relevant consideration when sustained fire is a realistic use case. A 1:7 right-hand twist stabilizes heavier projectiles effectively, making the barrel well-suited to 62-grain and 77-grain loads commonly used for practical work rather than locking the shooter into lighter match bullets.
The upper receiver and feed cover are precision-machined from 7075-T6 billet aluminum. The feed tray is billet steel. Both receive a dual-finish treatment — manganese phosphate and Type III Class 2 hardcoat anodize — with dry film lubricant applied to high-friction contact surfaces. The M-LOK® co-planar handguard provides a clean mounting surface for lights, lasers, and other accessories without the bulk of a full rail. Sights are adjustable and included. The package also ships with a RIP Brake™ muzzle compensator, MIL-Spec H3 buffer, carbine stock spacer, extended bolt catch, magazine adapter, 100 M27 links, and an operator’s manual.
