Description

Federal’s Fusion line built its reputation on a straightforward engineering premise: bond the jacket to the core so completely that the bullet stays together under the stress of impact and drives deep before it expands. The original Fusion did that through an electro-chemical bonding process that fuses copper to lead at a molecular level rather than simply pressing the two together, which keeps the jacket from peeling away on contact with heavy muscle or bone. Fusion Tipped takes that same construction and adds a polymer tip seated in a skived nose cavity. The tip serves two functions: it raises the ballistic coefficient to .529, which reduces how much wind pushes the bullet off course at distance, and when the bullet reaches the target the tip is driven rearward into that pre-cut cavity, initiating expansion reliably even at the lower impact velocities that come with longer shots.

The practical result is a deer and big-game load that carries the terminal consistency Fusion has always offered while extending the range at which that consistency holds. Flatter trajectories mean less holdover guessing on field shots, and the retained energy downrange matters when an animal is taken past the distances where lighter-constructed bullets begin to shed velocity too quickly to expand properly. At 140 grains the bullet weight suits the 6.5 Creedmoor’s rifling well, giving it enough sectional density to penetrate through shoulder blades or quartering angles without fragmenting. This is a 20-round box, with cases of 200 rounds available for hunters who want to work up a load and stock sufficient ammunition for a full season.
