Description
The GBRS Group Lerna Mount Kit exists to solve a specific problem: conventional optic heights place the line of sight low enough that body armor, ear protection, communications headsets, gas masks, and night vision systems all compete for the same geometry. The Lerna addresses this by positioning the optic centerline at 2.91 inches, which allows a shooter to maintain a vertical spine and present their armor plates forward rather than hunching down behind a low-mounted sight. The result is a more sustainable fighting posture that also keeps peripheral vision open.
The mount body is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and finished to MIL-A-8625 Type 3 Class 2 hard coat anodize. The clamp bar and screws are 17-4 PH stainless steel in H900 condition, treated with Melonite QPQ for corrosion resistance. Washers are 18-8 stainless, passivated with black oxide. This combination keeps the weight to 4.0 ounces while ensuring the hardware can withstand the torque spec marked on the mount itself — 45 in-lb — without galling or relaxing over time. The kit is configured specifically for the EOTech EXPS footprint and ships with a 1/4-inch drive T25 bit so installation does not require a separate tool purchase.
This variant comes in GBRS Group’s black finish. If your current setup keeps you behind your optic instead of seeing through it comfortably under a full kit, the Lerna is a straightforward mechanical fix rather than a workaround.
