This 6.8mm Remington SPC load centers on the SST — Super Shock Tip — a polymer-tipped boat-tail bullet that serves two purposes simultaneously: the tip initiates expansion reliably on impact even at lower terminal velocities, while the boat-tail base reduces drag to help the bullet hold velocity at distance. The result is a bullet that opens consistently across a practical hunting range rather than only at close-quarters impact speeds.

Core-jacket separation is one of the failure modes that degrades terminal performance and reduces recovered weight. Hornady’s InterLock-style construction in the SST mechanically locks the core to the jacket to resist that separation, keeping more of the bullet’s mass working in the target rather than fragmenting away from it.
