Hornady’s LEVERevolution line was built around a specific problem: traditional flat-nosed or round-nosed bullets are the only safe option in tubular magazines, where a pointed tip rests against the primer of the cartridge in front of it. The FTX bullet solves this with a soft, flexible polymer tip that compresses on impact to initiate expansion, while remaining safe under the spring pressure of a tube magazine. That design opens up a spitzer-style ogive — a more aerodynamically efficient profile — without the recoil-initiated primer risk, which translates to a flatter trajectory compared to traditional blunt projectiles at the same velocity.

In 10mm, that concept carries over naturally into pistols and semi-automatic carbines chambered for the cartridge, where the FTX tip still earns its place by delivering reliable, consistent expansion across a wide range of impact velocities. At 150 grains, the bullet sits on the lighter end of the 10mm weight spectrum, which generally means higher velocity and a flatter arc at distance, with terminal expansion doing the work that bullet weight alone would handle in a heavier load. Muzzle velocity comes in around 1,220 fps, putting muzzle energy in the 500 ft-lb range — enough for handgun hunting of medium game or serious field use.
