Hornady’s Superformance line was built around a specific problem: how to push a bullet faster without simply stuffing more slow-burning powder into a case and accepting the penalties that come with it. The conventional approach trades muzzle velocity for increased recoil, sharper blast, and reduced efficiency as unburned or still-burning powder exits the muzzle behind the bullet. Superformance sidesteps that by pairing purpose-formulated propellants with carefully matched charge weights, so the powder’s work is done inside the barrel rather than outside it. The result is a meaningful velocity gain over standard factory loads without the shooter absorbing extra punishment or the rifle collecting additional fouling.

The 117-grain SST is a sound choice for the .25-06 Remington at typical hunting distances. The SST’s polymer tip serves two functions: it protects the lead core during feeding and in the magazine, and on impact it drives inward to initiate expansion reliably even at the reduced velocities that occur at longer range. The InterLock ring, seated where the jacket meets the core, keeps the two bonded through expansion so the bullet holds together rather than shedding weight on impact. For deer-sized game, that retained mass matters as much as the initial energy figure. At 3,110 fps at the muzzle, this load has enough velocity in reserve that the bullet is still moving fast enough to expand dependably well past the distances most hunters realistically shoot. Brass cases are reloadable for those who work up their own loads. The box contains 20 rounds.
