Description
The KAK Low Profile Gas Block is built for AR-15 builders who are running a free-float handguard and need a gas block that clears the rail without adding height or bulk. A standard A-frame or clamp-style block with a taller profile will interfere with most free-float tube designs; a low-profile block like this one sits close enough to the barrel that virtually any free-float handguard can slide over it cleanly, giving you a continuous, unobstructed rail from receiver to muzzle end.
KAK machines this block from steel with a phosphate finish. Phosphate is a practical choice here — it provides corrosion resistance and holds oil well without the dimensional variability that can come with thicker coatings, which matters when you are fitting a component that needs to index precisely over a drilled gas port. The .750-inch bore diameter fits the most common AR-15 barrel contour at the gas block seat, covering carbine, mid-length, and rifle gas system positions on standard-profile barrels.
Installation is straightforward for anyone comfortable with a barrel build. Set screw retention keeps the profile minimal and the weight down. This is a no-frills component designed to do one job reliably: meter gas from the barrel port into the tube and stay put under repeated firing. At this price point it fits well into a budget build or a spare-parts upper without compromising the mechanical basics.
