The Kinect 7-Slot Picatinny Rail Section from Kinetic Development Group solves a specific problem: getting a full-length Picatinny platform onto an M-LOK handguard without tools, T-nuts, or torque concerns. Where a conventional M-LOK rail section requires an Allen wrench and careful attention to fastener torque, the Kinect system uses a pair of spring-loaded wedges built into the mount’s base. Pressing the section into any standard M-LOK slot depresses two small internal triggers, which fire the wedges laterally into the slot walls and lock the section in place. Removal is equally direct. No fasteners change hands, and there is no risk of deforming the rail or stripping hardware from overtightening.
The seven-slot span gives enough continuous Picatinny real estate to seat a full-size foregrip, a weapon light with a pressure pad, or a combination of smaller accessories without them competing for space — a meaningful difference over the three-slot version of the same mount. The section is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and finished in either Black or FDE anodize, so it carries the same surface hardness and corrosion resistance as most aluminum handguards it attaches to.
A few real-world caveats from the manufacturer are worth knowing before you buy. The Kinect system is engineered to the original Magpul M-LOK rail thickness specification of 0.080 to 0.125 inches. Some polymer M-LOK handguards run thicker — up to 0.150 inches — and KDG does not guarantee engagement on those surfaces. Additionally, loading the mount heavily against a bipod under recoil can cause the wedges to disengage, so this is not the right choice for a dedicated precision-rifle bipod mount. For lights, lasers, and handstops on a carbine-weight build, it does exactly what it is designed to do.
