The Lantac E-BCG for DPMS Gen 1 pattern .308/7.62 NATO platforms is built around a fundamentally reworked gas management design. Where a standard bolt carrier vents propellant gas rearward into the upper receiver, Lantac’s patent-pending forward-porting system redirects that gas away from the shooter and away from the receiver interior. The practical result is a softer, more linear felt impulse on each shot and a meaningfully cooler, cleaner action over extended firing sessions. Rifles running a suppressed barrel see an additional benefit: less pressurization builds inside the upper receiver, which reduces the blowback of hot gas and carbon that a suppressor can otherwise drive back through the action. Lantac is clear that the E-BCG is not a total solution to over-gassing — barrel length, gas port size, and suppressor volume all interact — but it does address a real part of the problem.
The carrier itself is 8620 steel, heat-treated and hard-turned after that treatment so that final dimensions are held to the tightest possible tolerance rather than relying on pre-heat-treat machining. The bolt is MPI-inspected Carpenter 158 or 9310 steel, also hard-turned and ground after heat treat. A flared boss at the rear of the carrier stabilizes the assembly inside the buffer tube during the cycling stroke, which reduces the lateral wobble that can cause the BCG to track inconsistently and contribute to felt harshness. The cam pin is Lantac’s CP-R360-H, machined from 17-4PH stainless steel and hardened to H900 condition — its domed profile reduces contact wear on the upper receiver’s cam pin track over time. The gas key is staked at four points with Grade 8 fasteners, and the entire assembly carries Lantac’s NiB UCT EXO coating. Compatible with both full-auto and semi-auto carriers, and made in the USA with a lifetime warranty.
