Description

The Lantac M-SPEC is built for the shooter who needs a dependable .308/7.62 bolt carrier group without paying a premium for features a straightforward build doesn’t require. It occupies an honest middle ground: machined to genuine military specification dimensions and tolerances, then improved in a handful of places that actually matter at the range.

The carrier is full auto profile, which adds mass relative to a semi-auto carrier. That extra mass gives the bolt more momentum during the extraction cycle, which helps the action run reliably under adverse conditions and with a broader range of ammunition pressure levels. It’s machined from 8620 steel, case hardened, and hard turned and ground so that internal dimensions hold true to mil-spec. Rather than the standard Type M phosphate coating, Lantac applies a QPQ Nitride finish, which penetrates the metal surface rather than sitting on top of it. The result is a harder, more corrosion-resistant surface that holds up better to heat and friction than phosphate does over extended use.

The bolt is machined from either Carpenter 158 or 9310 steel — both are accepted mil-spec materials — then magnetic particle inspected, shot peened to increase surface fatigue resistance, and hard turned and ground to close tolerances. Each assembled BCG also includes Lantac’s CP-R360-H cam pin, a domed-head component precision machined from 17-4PH stainless steel and hardened to H900 condition. The domed geometry reduces the contact area between the cam pin and the upper receiver, which lowers friction and slows wear at that interface over time.
