Description
The LWRC ICMKII is built for shooters who want a short-stroke gas piston AR that holds up under sustained use and heavy round counts without the cleaning demands of a direct-impingement design. The piston system vents propellant gases away from the bolt carrier group, which keeps carbon and fouling out of the action itself — a meaningful advantage when the rifle is going to see range work, duty use, or extended time in the field before the next cleaning session.
The upper receiver is machined as a single Monoforge piece rather than assembled from separate upper and rail components, which removes a potential flex point and keeps the barrel and optic on the same rigid structure. The barrel is cold hammer forged and spiral fluted — the cold hammer forging process aligns the steel’s grain structure along the bore, which contributes to bore consistency and service life, while the fluting sheds some weight without removing metal from the critical chamber and rifling areas.
A 1-in-7 inch twist rate stabilizes heavier projectiles reliably, making the rifle well suited to 62-grain M855, 75-grain and 77-grain match loads, and other bullets on the longer end of the .223/5.56 spectrum. Shooters running lighter 55-grain ammunition will still function fine; the twist simply gives you headroom for heavier options without a barrel swap.
Ambidextrous controls — bolt catch, bolt release, magazine release, and safety selector — are integrated, not retrofitted, and the charging handle is likewise fully ambidextrous. The bolt carrier group carries a nickel boron coating, which reduces friction and simplifies cleaning. LWRC Skirmish back-up iron sights are included and co-witness with most standard optic heights. The rifle ships with one 30-round Magpul PMAG.
