MDT’s metal AICS-pattern magazine for 6mm ARC and 6.5 Grendel bolt-action rifles solves a problem that polymer magazines often don’t: long-term dimensional stability under the kind of load cycling and chamber pressures that eventually cause softer materials to walk out of spec. Steel construction keeps the feed lips consistent over time, which matters most when your shooting depends on repeatable first-round ignition from a cold bolt.

The Double Stack to Single Feed (DSSF) internal geometry is worth understanding. By transitioning rounds from a staggered stack into a single column before the feed ramp, MDT shortens the overall magazine height by roughly three-quarters of an inch compared to a conventional double-stack layout. For prone shooting in a chassis, that reduction directly affects how flat you can get behind the rifle — a shorter mag body means less clearance needed between the magazine floor plate and the ground.

A nitride treatment goes on the steel first, which hardens the surface and provides a baseline level of corrosion resistance. A Cerakote Elite topcoat is then applied over that, reducing surface friction so the magazine drops free cleanly under field conditions and adding another layer of protection against moisture. The AICS-pattern interface makes this magazine compatible with the broad ecosystem of chassis and stocks built around that standard, so it isn’t limited to any single rifle platform. Outside length comes in at 3.055 inches, with a maximum cartridge overall length of 2.400 inches and a rear height of 3.90 inches — dimensions that matter when confirming fit in a particular chassis well before you’re in the field.
