Description

The MDT Metal AICS Magazine is built for precision rifle shooters who run AICS-pattern chassis systems or bottom metal and need a feeding solution that holds up to the demands of regular range work. The magazine body is constructed from high-strength steel, then nitrided and coated inside and out with Cerakote Elite — a combination that addresses corrosion resistance and friction reduction simultaneously, so rounds strip cleanly from the stack under consistent tension.

The design uses a double-stack to single-feed arrangement, which keeps the outside length just over three inches. That compact profile matters most when shooting prone or off a bag, where a longer magazine would either dig into the ground or force the rifle higher off the surface than your position allows.

This version ships with a front binder plate, which holds cartridges back from the front wall and guides them reliably past the base of the feed ramp. The trade-off is maximum cartridge overall length: the binder plate limits COAL to 2.870 inches, compared to 2.960 inches in the plateless variant. For most factory .308 Win and 6.5 Creedmoor ammunition that sits well within spec, this is a non-issue. Shooters running heavily loaded or long-for-caliber projectiles should verify their loaded rounds against that dimension before ordering. The binder plate version is compatible with AICS-pattern systems without any receiver modification required, making it the straightforward drop-in choice for the majority of chassis-equipped bolt guns.

Compatibility extends across a range of short-action cartridges beyond .308 Win and 6.5 Creedmoor, including .243 Win, 7mm-08, .260 Rem, and 6mm Creedmoor, among others. Howa 1500 short-action rifles require minor modification to function with this magazine.
