Description

MDT’s AICS-pattern metal magazine for 6mm ARC is built for shooters running bolt-action chassis rifles who need a magazine that holds its own under hard use. The body is pressed from high-strength steel, nitrided throughout, and finished inside and out with Cerakote Elite — a combination that addresses corrosion resistance and internal friction at the same time. Reducing friction inside the magazine matters because it directly affects how reliably rounds strip from the stack under spring pressure, particularly in cold or wet conditions where lubricants thin out or wash away.

The design uses a Double Stack to Single Feed transition — often abbreviated DSSF — that collapses the stack into a single column closer to the feed lips than a conventional AICS double-stack layout does. The practical result is a shorter overall magazine height for a given round count, which makes a meaningful difference when shooting from a prone position. A taller magazine sitting further below the receiver forces a higher cheekweld or a more awkward body position; the reduced height here works with the shooter’s natural prone geometry rather than against it.

Compatibility extends to both 6mm ARC and 6.5 Grendel, which share the same bolt and magazine dimensions. If you’re running a chassis already set up for AICS-footprint magazines, this drops straight in without modification. The Cerakote Elite finish on the exterior also means the magazine matches or blends with most chassis finishes that use similar coatings, keeping the build consistent.
