Description
The Magpul PMAG 5 AC L is built for hunters and bolt-action shooters running long-action AICS-pattern chassis or bottom metal, giving them a factory-quality polymer magazine where purpose-built options have historically been limited. It is designed around the .30-06 family of cartridges, which means it accommodates the full range of .30-06-based loads including .270 Winchester, .25-06, .280, and others sharing that parent case — a genuinely broad compatibility that matters when switching between rifles or cartridge choices without buying new magazines.
Construction follows Magpul’s GEN M3 process: impact-resistant polymer throughout the body and a stainless steel follower spring, keeping weight low while resisting the flex and cracking that can occur with hard use or temperature swings in the field. The follower itself is user-modifiable, allowing the shooter to open capacity beyond the standard five rounds without tools or replacement parts — useful when moving from a hunting context to target or competition work. The five-round configuration also drops neatly into rifles built around the Magpul Hunter 700L and 700L stocks via the Bolt Action Magazine Well, making it a natural pairing for that platform.
A paint-pen dot matrix is molded into the body for user marking, which is a small but practical feature when running multiple magazines loaded with different ammunition at the range. Overall cartridge length acceptance runs to 3.50 inches, covering most standard factory loads and common handloads within that case family. This is a single-stack design, which keeps the magazine profile slim and the feed geometry consistent — both relevant to reliable feeding in the close tolerances typical of precision bolt-action actions.
