Description
MDT’s Metal Magazine for long-action .300 Winchester Magnum rifles is built for shooters running MDT chassis systems on Tikka T3/T3x or Savage Axis long-action platforms. The 3.560-inch magazine length is specifically sized for those actions, which have a shorter magazine well than the standard MDT long-action well — using a 3.715-inch magazine in these chassis will not fit correctly, so confirming your chassis well length before ordering is essential.
The body is formed from high-strength steel, giving it the rigidity needed to maintain consistent feed geometry under field conditions where polymer magazines can flex under load. MDT finishes it in Cerakote Elite, a ceramic-based coating that resists corrosion and abrasion better than conventional bluing or phosphate treatments, making it a reasonable choice for rifles carried in harsh weather. The AICS-pattern geometry means it drops into any chassis or bottom metal built to that standard, which covers a broad range of aftermarket and OEM rifle platforms beyond MDT’s own lineup.
One compatibility note worth understanding: this magazine is designed around standard .300 Winchester Magnum case dimensions. It also accommodates 7 PRC, though MDT recommends slightly opening the feed lips for that cartridge. It will not function with larger-diameter magnum cases such as .300 Remington Ultra Mag or .300 Weatherby Magnum, which require a wider body than this design provides. Matching magazine length to your specific chassis well is the most important purchasing decision here — the steel construction and finish are fixed qualities; the length is the variable that determines whether the magazine fits at all.
