Description
This is Mossberg’s factory drop-box magazine for the Patriot and 4×4 bolt-action rifles, built specifically for short-action cartridges. If you run one of those rifles in .243 Winchester, you already know the platform; this magazine gives you a verified-fit spare without guessing about aftermarket compatibility or feed geometry. Because it is a factory OEM piece, the feed lips and follower are designed around the same tolerances as the original magazine that shipped with the rifle, which matters for consistent cartridge presentation to the chamber.
The magazine body is molded from impact-resistant polymer, which keeps weight down and resists the knocks a hunting magazine takes in a pack or blind bag. Reinforced feed lips handle the repeated stress of loading and unloading without spreading over time, a common failure point in lesser polymer designs. A high-tensile steel spring drives a polymer follower upward, providing consistent upward pressure on the stack through all five rounds. The polymer floor plate adds a degree of shock resistance if the magazine is dropped on a hard surface. At five rounds, the capacity suits most hunting regulations and keeps the profile flush enough that prone shooting stays comfortable. Compatible chamberings for this short-action format include .243 Winchester, .308 Winchester, 7mm-08 Remington, 6.5 Creedmoor, and .22-250 Remington, so one spare covers you if you run multiple Patriot or 4×4 uppers or rifles in different calibers.
