Description

The Magpul Bolt Action Magazine Well for the Hunter 700L Stock converts a Remington 700 long-action rifle from a blind-magazine or hinged-floorplate setup to a fully detachable box magazine system — without sending the stock to a gunsmith. The OEM bottom metal comes out, and this reinforced polymer trigger guard and magazine well drops into the existing Hunter 700L inletting. The fit is designed around that specific stock, so no custom routing or bedding work is necessary, though Magpul notes that receiver dimension tolerances can vary enough that some fitting may still be required.

The trigger guard is sized generously, which matters in cold-weather hunting situations where a gloved hand needs to reach the trigger without the guard becoming an obstacle. The magazine release is ambidextrous and machined from Melonite-treated steel, a surface treatment that resists both wear and corrosion — practical on a hunting rifle that sees field conditions. Action screw pillars are steel, preserving consistent torque interface between the stock and receiver over time.

The system is built around AICS-pattern long-action magazines, and the included Magpul PMAG 5 AC L, Magnum is spec’d for cartridges using a 0.530-inch belted case head — the .300 Winchester Magnum family, 7mm Remington Magnum, .270 Weatherby, .264 Winchester, and related rounds. That magazine is not compatible with .404 Jeffery-based cartridges or their derivatives such as the Remington Ultra Magnum or Winchester Short Magnum families, so confirm your cartridge fits the AICS belted-magnum pattern before ordering. The polymer construction keeps the assembly light without sacrificing the structural rigidity the feeding cycle requires.
