Description
The Magpul Index Stop is a minimalist hand stop built for shooters who want a consistent support-hand reference point without adding bulk to their M-LOK handguard. Rather than wrapping the hand around a full vertical grip, the index stop gives the lead hand a low-profile ledge to index against — keeping the thumb safely away from the muzzle and reducing the tendency for grip position to drift between shots or between shooting positions.
The design occupies only a half-slot on the M-LOK rail, which means it leaves adjacent slots open for other accessories and adds virtually no weight to the build. The face protrudes only about 1/8 inch from the rail surface, so it stays clear of barricades and gear without disappearing into the handguard profile. Ridged texture on both the front and rear faces gives the finger something to register against under gloves or in wet conditions without requiring a hard grip. The stop is sized to match Magpul’s Type 2 M-LOK Rail Covers, so it integrates cleanly if those covers are already on the handguard — no gaps, no mismatched thickness.
Construction is Magpul’s proprietary polymer, which keeps the part light and corrosion-resistant while giving the texture enough edge to remain tactile after extended handling. The Modified Coyote Brown finish coordinates with Magpul’s MCB-family accessories and works well on flat dark earth or mixed-tone builds. For anyone running a support-hand thumb-over-bore technique or a C-clamp grip on a precision or competition carbine, the Index Stop provides a repeatable anchor point that a smooth handguard surface simply cannot.
