Description
The Magpul MOE SL-M is a compact carbine buttstock built for AR-15 and M4-pattern rifles, and it’s aimed squarely at shooters who want a shorter, lighter package without giving up a usable length-of-pull range. It drops onto mil-spec carbine receiver extension tubes with no modification to the lower receiver.
The design prioritizes a tight, controlled shooting position. The angled rubber butt-pad grips the shoulder reliably whether the shooter is wearing a t-shirt or layered body armor, and the geometry encourages a forward lean that keeps the rifle indexed consistently. The ambidextrous release latch is shielded to prevent accidental adjustment during movement — a meaningful detail on a platform that gets handled aggressively. Length of pull adjusts across a 3.3-inch range, from 9.4 inches collapsed to 12.7 inches extended, so it accommodates a wide spread of shooter builds and gear configurations.
The 1.25-inch footman’s loop on the underside accepts an M-LOK QD sling mount, which keeps sling attachment low-profile and eliminates the need for an additional adapter. The stock is constructed from polymer, which keeps weight down — the entire unit comes in at 7.1 ounces — and resists the dimensional changes that temperature swings can cause in metal components.
This Olive Drab Green variant suits shooters running ODG-coordinated builds or working within environments where that finish is operationally appropriate. It’s a straightforward stock that makes meaningful compromises in overall length without sacrificing the features a working carbine actually needs.
