Description

The PMAG 30 AR/M4 GEN M3 is Magpul’s current-production standard-capacity magazine for AR-15 and M4-pattern rifles chambered in 5.56×45 NATO and .223 Remington. It is the magazine that military and law enforcement units have standardized on, and it works just as well for the shooter who runs hard and expects equipment to keep up.

The body is built from a next-generation impact and crush-resistant polymer that absorbs the kind of punishment a steel or aluminum magazine would dent under. Where dented feed lips cause stoppages, the GEN M3’s reinforced lips maintain their geometry after drops and impacts, keeping the round presentation to the chamber consistent. Inside, a constant-curve profile guides cartridges along the same arc from the first round to the last, while a self-lubricating anti-tilt follower eliminates the tipping that causes nose-down jams in lesser designs. The spring is USGI-spec stainless steel, chosen for long service life and reliable tension across temperature extremes that polymer springs can’t match.

An over-travel stop on the spine prevents the magazine from seating too deeply on compatible lowers, and a redesigned bolt-catch notch at the rear provides additional clearance for reliable last-round bolt hold-open. The flared floorplate comes off without tools for cleaning, and it’s slim enough to seat properly in tight double and triple magazine pouches. Low-profile external ribs give a controlled grip surface without adding bulk, and the paint-pen dot matrix on the body panel lets you mark magazines by load or unit without permanent modification. Platform compatibility extends beyond the standard AR-15 and M4 to include the HK 416, MR556A1, M27 IAR, FN SCAR MK 16/16S, British SA-80, and others built to the STANAG 4179 specification.
